Socio-Economic and Caste Census 2011 (SECC)

:-> Socio-Economic and Caste Census has been revealed but without caste data.
:-> It is the first since 1932.
:-> Only 4.6% People dwelling in the rural households pay taxes while 10% of them earn salaries.
:-> It has revealed that 23.52 per cent of rural families have no literate head above the age of 25.
:-> SECC 2011 has revealed that there were 24.39 crore households in the country out of which 17.91 crore lived in the villages.
:-> 30 per cent rural households in the villages are of SC and ST's.
:-> 29. 43 per cent households are of SC and ST's in the entire country.
:-> Highest SC population is in Punjab (36.74 %) followed by West Bengal(28.45%), Tamil Nadu (25.55%) and Himachal Pradesh (23.97%).
:-> Mizoram has the highest ST population(98.79%) followed by Lakshawdeep and Nagaland.
:-> Even though manual scavenging is banned in the country Tripura has the highest manual scavengers (2.5 per cent of rural population)
:-> Uttar Pradesh tops the list of states with highest mobile penetration with 86.63 per cent.
:-> Chhatisgrah at the bottom of the list with 28.47% of mobile devices.
